destarte GAD Meeting April 24, 2009 2 Apr 8 2009, 5:58 AM EDT by destarte
Thread started: Mar 30 2009, 7:12 AM EDT  Watch
Proposed Agenda from Angela:
1. Spend time being excited about our donation from the AWC. Yay, Lacey!

2. Discuss and find out if and how we can accept this donation. (Khun Suwimon, can you research this for us?)

3. Discuss the original project proposal: possible dates, locations, number of PCVs, counterparts, kids etc.

4. Create a budget and discuss how would we get the rest of the necessary funding. (There is a great student camp facility in Hua Hin called the Don Bosco center, my co-teacher says it has been about 30 baht a head in the past, but will get more details before the meeting. Can anyone think of important questions I should remember to ask about this place?)

5. Other GAD issues: Next Newsletter? Wiki stuff? Any other events we should plan on for this year? Maybe thank you to Khun Rumpai and Khun Marilee for having us at PST?

6. PST 121 processing: How did it go? What would we like to say at PST 121? Should we try to get a real time slot to go with our time to present GAD to PCVs? (I am thinking a session that addresses the role that gender plays in development in Thailand. Maybe appropriate at this time as everyone will have had some work experience?)

From Lacey in response to proposed agenda:
I think we should contact Jake the new AO as soon as possible. Whenever I get a go ahead from someone I will draft an email to Jake with the proposal attached. I have corresponded with him once already and he seems eager to answer questions and get workin'.

sebealer International Women's Day 0 Feb 18 2008, 3:01 AM EST by sebealer

For those not in the know, International Women's Day is March 8. If you've been asking yourself, "What activities could I possibly do that relate to WID/GAD?," then here's your chance. My tambon is celebrating by holding an all-day, women-only event featuring dance aerobics and health presentations on issues like breast cancer and HIV/AIDS. There are lots of possibilities- how about getting the men to serve the women for once?!- so grab a counterpart and plan something to fill up that blank WId/GAD section on your tri-annual report!
