English Crazy Club - Ubon Ratchathani

Students and faculty from Ubon University are absolutely crazy about English and have formed an English Crazy Club. It started out in 2003 as a venue to practice English among themselves, but the club quickly grew a love for running English Crazy Camps for rural Thai students of all ages. Scott Hajek (TCCO 119) thinks they're the best camps he's ever seen.

Philosophy: A few days in an English camp is not enough time to learn a whole lot of English, but it can be the beginning of students' inspiration to learn English. English Crazy Club considers a camp a success if the students overcome their initial fears of trying to speak English and gain a desire to practice English as much as possible.

Fees: This club puts on English Crazy Camps basically at-cost, which means they only ask for the cost of materials, transportation, a small donation for the organization, and a nominal stipend for the main organizer(s).

6. I will bring an English dictionary everywhere, even to the toilet.
7. I will read English newspapers to my pet dogs and cats.
8. I will sing English songs very badly and loudly everyday.
9. I will watch English movies every week, even crap ones.
10. I shall be called 'ENGLISH CRAZY' if I do all of the above.
