The Highland Agriculture Extension Center is an arm the Department of Agricultural Extension. Centers are placed throughout the north located mostly in and around hill tribe villages. Mirroring the King's Royal Project, these centers were paced near hill tribes to wane them of growing illegal drugs (i.e. opium). Indigenous groups as well as Thais can access the centers as resource centers not only for agricultural needs but also social development needs.
Contact Information: You can get to one of the many centers through the
doae.go.th website or here at
http://haec01.doae.go.th/pages/main.html - the Kanchanaburi Center site. A map of centers and contact information for the centers is attached to this site, though all in Thai.

Comments:
In this volunteers experience, these centers offer a great opportunity for projects and collaborations. The centers are accessible by hill tribes and Thais living in the area. The centers support and host trainings and information sessions on agriculture as well as support for social development causes. I would recommend getting to know your center if you are lucky enough to have one in your Ampoe. I've attached a sample of one of their mushroom training worksheets for villagers (in Thai).
