  1. Make a trip to your university’s fellowship office while you are in the process of applying for graduate school. Go again immediately after you begin your graduate education.
  2. Try to obtain copies of successful fellowship applications to use as examples for your own applications.
  3. Make sure your potential graduate advisor is well and truly aware of your plans to go international with your degree program. Make sure your grad school entrance essays reflect your plans.
  4. Make very sure you have good contacts in your chosen country of study.
