Additional Details:
- Ag projects are display plots for locals, but K. Yutt is happy to help with duu ngaan.
- Funding and training for Jatropha project was provided by the company that sold them their initial clippings and who will buy their harvest.
- KLDF has a number of other projects, too. See website
- Focuses on indigenous peoples, but will work with Thais as well.
Comments:
- Small but knowledgeable staff.
- Main funding seems to come from a farang who isn't present very often.
- Very close to Chiang Rai city, so it's an easy place to check out if you're in town.
- Lining up the actual appointment was difficult. Make sure to call KLDF a day or two before you are visiting to confirm your appointment. K. Yuut seems to have a lot of meetings in the villages, so if they forget about the appointment, he may not be available.
- Caleb is now back in the states, but he worked at KLDF for a few years and seemed happy to answer questions.
