Lifeskills Camp
Project Description:
Students teaching students lifeskills and HIV/AIDS
Timeframe:
Aug. - Nov. 10th
Goals/Objectives:
  • To have a lifeskills camp run by students with adult supervision.
Successes:
  • Students ran the camp mostly on their own. They read the material, Friends tell Friends and the Youth Development Manual, made the material, and ran the sessions.
Challenges:
  • To get teachers to get involved as mentors.
Lessons Learned:
  • If you give students a chance to teach to their peers they will take their job seriously and the camp will be a success. This was an easy camp because I was able to delegate responsibilities to students who were willing to complete their tasks.
