Project Description:

Timeframe:
October 2006 - February 2007
Goals/Objectives:
  • Giving kids basic, accurate information about HIV/AIDS
  • Give the kids the skills to teach their peers about HIV/AIDS
Successes:
  • 6 of the 7 schools held their own activities run by the camp participants
  • Created a network between the school and the government hospital in Amphur Muang
Challenges:
  • Working with the ESAO, hospital and several schools all over Kampaeng Phet was a challenge and took a lot of organization and patience
  • Miscommunication with the teachers at the particiating schools
  • Many trainers equals confusion
Lessons Learned:
  • When writing invitation letters, be specific to the point of being obnoxious to cut down on the chance of misinterpretation
  • If involoving many trainers, don't have them all attend everyday of the event. We had a lot of people sitting aroung with nothing to do
  • Be patient and flexible (obviously), it will keep you sane
