Do you want a place to store files so you can link to them from the wiki? Have you tried to follow a link from the wiki that led to a secure website? Have you tried to use the computers in the PC lounge but not known how to log-in?

In late 2007, the PC Thailand office installed a server system called Sharepoint. It provides a secure place to store and access files. It also has a lot of other cool features that complement the PCV wiki: an online calendar, survey tools, and more.

The addresses for the SharePoint website are as follows:
Access from Outside the PC office: https://th.peacecorps.gov
Access from Within the PC office: https://th-ext.peacecorps.gov

For a explanation of how Sharepoint and the PC Thailand Volunteer wiki can make a great team, see wiki-sharepoint integration.

All current Thailand PCVs have a username and a default password (the same for both Sharepoint and the lounge computers), but we cannot put that information on the wiki for security reasons. Please call the PC office and talk to the IT guy, Khun Teerapot. He'll get you straightened out.

DOs and DON'Ts

  • DO put up as many resources as you can, and link to them on the wiki putting a useful description
  • DON'T try to upload files ending in ".exe" or using an ampersand (&). The system won't let you.
  • DO try to organize your files so that people using Sharepoint alone will still be able to find them.
  • DON'T use spaces in your file names or in any folders you create. The wiki automatically changes spaces in links into plus signs (+), which will prevent your links from working.

arnold1482 Linking from Sharepoint to wiki... 3 Jan 26 2008, 1:11 AM EST by PCThaiICT

Dear John:

Just kidding, this question goes out to the entire group: is anyone else having trouble downloading files that are stored on Sharepoint from the wiki? I've tried downloading Andrea's flashcards and the HIV/AIDS radio files that Scott put up and no luck. I can do it when I go directly to the file on Sharepoint however.

From what I can tell, the links don't match up whenever there is a space in the folder name or file name. For instance, the link to one of the radio files on Sharepoint is:

https://th.peacecorps.gov/Shared%20Documents/Wiki%20files/HIV-AIDS/Group%201.mp3

however, when you check the link on the wiki it says:

https://th.peacecorps.gov/Shared+Documents/Wiki+files/HIV-AIDS/Group+1.mp3

For some reason, the wiki changes the %20's which denotes a space into +'s which I think is causing the problem. I tried editing the link to match the one on Sharepoint's, and it worked.... temporarily. I refreshed the page and wiki again changed the %20's back to +'s.

Can anyone else download the files or is it only me?
